The Warren County Commission is holding a public hearing at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 30, to accept comments about proposed zoning code additions to include medical marijuana-related businesses. The hearing will be held in the commission chambers at the Warren County Administration Building, 101 Mockingbird Lane, Warrenton.Missouri voters last year approved a constitutional amendment that legalized medical marijuana throughout the state. In advance of medical marijuana-related businesses seeking to open in Warren County, the county commission is changing its zoning code to direct where they can operate. The proposed zoning code takes into consideration businesses that would grow, process or dispense medical marijuana. Here are the changes being considered by the commission, to be discussed during Tuesday’s public hearing:• Dispensaries to be permitted in areas zoned for commercial uses.• Manufacturing and testing to be allowed only through a conditional use permit in areas zoned for industrial uses.• Cultivation to be allowed only through a conditional use permit in areas zoned for agriculture. An activity being allowed through a conditional use permit means each landowner must receive approval from the county planning and zoning commission before engaging in that activity. The commission may require specific stipulations before granting approval.Marijuana
