Record Managing EditorThe Warren County R-III School agreed to spend $24,141 to help shore up a wall at Daniel Boone Elementary School.The project will make sure the wall, on the southwest side of the building, stays in place. Work will begin this summer and is expected to take 37 days to be completed.Officials emphasized that there is no safety concern, but the project will avoid the wall from continuing to move farther in future years.At the April 9 meeting, the school board voted unanimously to award the contract to Lawlor Corporation. The St. Louis-based company had the lowest of the four bids submitted.Other bids were submitted by Freise Construction, $24,300; Demien Construction, $29,250; and Wright Construction, $44,500.The estimated cost for the project was $30,000.In other news• Also at the April 9 meeting, a discussion was held on the policies related to short-time leave for professional and support staff. The school board decided to table any action until the next meeting May 14 to gather more information.• The school board unanimously agreed to pay a $8,450 invoice to be a member of the Missouri School Boards’ Association effective July 1 and expiring June 30, 2016. The membership fee is based on the district’s total expenditures from the 2013 fiscal year.• The district awarded a contract for custodial supplies and will purchase items from three companies — All-Type Vacuum, $2,381.80; Industrial Soap, $1,553.40; and Manning Janitorial, $332. A fourth company, Buckeye Cleaning, also submitted a bid.• The board adopted the proposed curriculum for the 2015-16 school year.• New job descriptions for the accounting and benefits clerk and instructional/technology coach were approved.Project designed to shore up wall at Daniel Boone Elementary school
