Preserving history part of Farm Heritage Days

This weekend’s Warren County Farm Heritage Days will showcase a time when farming was done differently. The 37th annual event will be held Saturday, Aug. 9, and Sunday, Aug. 10, at the Agricultural Heritage Museum, located off Highway W at 29550 Palmyra Road north of Warrenton. Farm Heritage Days is designed to preserve the agricultural heritage by collecting, preserving and restoring tools and machinery used by past generations of farmers. Some of the demonstrations that will be held both days include threshing, rope making, saw milling and buzz sawing. The grounds open at 9 a.m. on both days. Admission is free.The Panther Pulling Association will host a garden tractor pull starting at 11 a.m. on Saturday. Other events that will be held during the day include a cross-cut saw contest at 11:30 a.m., a parade of equipment at 1:30 p.m., music from Disciples of the Cross at 2 p.m. and kids pedal pull and games at 3 p.m. At 5:30 p.m., an adult pedal tractor pull will be held with separate men’s and women’s classes. There is no entry fee. On Sunday, the MOSAC tractor pull will start at 1 p.m., with a watermelon eating contest to follow at 1:30 p.m. Food and drinks will be available both days.
