The city of Truesdale will host a prescription drug take-back event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, at city hall, 109 Pickney St.
People with unused, unwanted or expired prescription medications are encouraged to drop off those medications to be properly destroyed.
Proper disposal prevents misuse of the drugs and will keep them out of the environment and water system.
The federal government does not require testing for pharmaceuticals in drinking water. Still, antibiotics, anticonvulsants, mood stabilizers and sex hormones have been found in water supplies throughout America.
Small amounts have affected human embryonic kidney cells, human blood cells and human breast cancer cells.
Truesdale has a prescription drug drop-off box at city hall. People can drop off medications during regular business hours. This event gives people a chance to drop off the drugs on a Saturday.
