To The Editor:I grew up in Marthasville, Mo., and go back often because I still have family who lives there and family who works there, and to see what the mayor and his board did with the dissolving of the police department is very concerning. I want to know that my family is protected at all times. Is the mayor going to go on a police call when the need is there? I think not. It was nice to see Gene sitting at the school when the kids were coming and going, and making sure they were kept safe. It was nice to see him patrolling through town and checking not only on the residents of Marthasville, but also on the businesses. From articles I have read and from people I have talked to there had been some questionable practices going on by the mayor, so to Mayor Lange, all I can say is shame on you. This is the town you have lived in and raised your family in for as long as I can remember and now you clearly couldn't care less about the people of Marthasville. If you cared then the decision to disband the police department should have been discussed with the residents and business owners of Marthasville, and you clearly did not do this. You closed doors and shut out the people who make Marthasville the wonderful town that it is.I know Warren County will do the best job it can to protect the town of Marthasville but I do pray that Marthasville will once again have its own police department.Vicky Tillman,Lees Summit
