Prather to bring political humor to main stage

CNN called him the pickup truck pundit, and now he’s the main stage entertainment at the Warren County Fair.Chad Prather grew up in Augusta, Ga., and now lives in Fort Worth, Texas. His southern accent is part of his act as much as his cowboy hat and southern charm.Prather will be on the main stage at the Warren County Fair at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 5.People have likened him and his style to a modern day Will Rogers. It’s a comparison Prather can’t wrap his head around.“I consider myself more of a humorist, and fortunately, people laugh,” he said.He has always been on stage of sorts. He was a motivational speaker who added comedy to his presentations and then in sales. He was good at both, thanks to that humor and charm, but he knew he would be happier doing something else. The something else was comedy that incorporated music. He added guitar-strumming parodies.Prather excites and ignites people with strong social and political views. More likely, he will ignite harshness from those who lean left and excite applause from those on the right.Reactions to his comedy stirs up “everything from I’m the greatest thing in the world to death threats,” Prather said. “It’s amazing how divided the country is.”“Everyone loves an opinion as long as it’s one they agree with,” he added. After two years of touring, most all of his performances are sold out. He is on a 40-city tour, called the “Star Spangled Banter” tour. His Facebook page has more than 2 million followers, and his online videos, as many as 250 of them, have each been viewed a million times or more.Prather said he tries to see things from the perspective of blue collar families living in middle America. He tries to communicate how they are dealing with the way things are.He has performed in Missouri but this will be his first appearance Warrenton.Prather is more than OK with CNN’s description of him as the pickup truck pundit.“I think that’s a funny moniker,” he said.

Chad Prather will entertain Fair guests with his musical comedy on the main stage at the Warren County Fair Wednesday, July 5. Submitted photo.
