Police: Woman kicked in door, assaulted victim

Warrenton police arrested a woman Friday, Jan. 4, after she allegedly broke into a home and assaulted another woman inside.Crystal D. Richardson, 38, Warrenton, is charged with burglary in the first degree and misdemeanor assault. She is free from jail on a $25,000 surety bond.Richardson is accused of breaking into an apartment on Cordova Court in Warrenton, according to an arrest report. The female victim at the residence told police Richardson had kicked in the door and punched her in the face. Richardson then allegedly slammed the victim’s head into the wall, leaving a dent in the wall.Police said the victim had bruising on her face and neck from being in a physical altercation. An officer observed damage to the door frame and wall consistent with the victim’s story, the arrest report states.A witness at the scene confirmed the victim’s statements, police said. Richardson herself also allegedly admitted to fighting with the victim.The burglary charge is considered more severe because a victim was present in the residence at the time. If convicted, Richardson could face several years in prison.Richardson’s bond includes a condition that she have no contact with the assault victim. She had an arraignment scheduled for Jan. 9 in Warren County Circuit Court.
