Every Warrenton police officer soon will be issued a new portable radio to replace the department’s aging equipment.“This is a replacement of all the radios (officers) carry with them all the time and depend on when they’re out of their cars,”Police Chief Greg Houdyshell told the Warrenton Board of Aldermen Feb. 21.The newest portable radios in the department are 7 or 8 years old, he said.“We had money in the Neighborhood Crime Reduction Fund that will cover this,” Houdyshell said.The aldermen approved $7,685 to purchase new portable radios for the police department with a 6-0 vote.The Warrenton Board of Aldermen meets the first and third Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. at Warrenton City Hall.
