Prosecutors have issued a warrant for a man who reportedly became aggressive with a Wright City police officer while intoxicated and holding a baby.
Tyler T. Maness, 32, Wright City, was charged Aug. 4 with child endangerment, two misdemeanor assaults and resisting arrest. The charges arise from an April 27 incident in which Wright City police were called to a disturbance on Essex Court.
According to a Wright City police report, the officer who came to the call was informed that Maness was intoxicated and had become aggressive with another person at the home. While the officer was investigating, Maness reportedly became aggressive toward him while holding a 3-month-old child.
Police allege that Maness used his back to push the officer out the front door and then tried to lock him out. Another person let the officer back in through the garage and Maness allegedly pushed that person. The officer then told Maness that he would be arrested.
Maness allegedly responded by swearing at the officer, “chest bumping” him, and then raising his fist as if to strike, all while still holding the baby in his other hand, according to the police report.
After another person took the child from Maness, the officer reportedly was able to detain him without further incident.
The warrant for Maness’ arrest includes authorization for him to be released on his own recognizance after being booked at the Warren County Jail.
