Wright City police are investigating a break-in and robbery at Osage County Guns in which a group of suspects used a vehicle to smash through the store doors.
At least two vehicles carrying a group of suspects arrived at Osage County Guns in Wright City on Saturday, Sept. 3 at approximately 1:47 a.m., according to a press release issued by the police department.
“Although the facility is equipped with multiple concrete pylons to protect the perimeter of the building, the suspects drove a vehicle between two of these barriers, using the vehicle as a battering ram to forcibly make entry,” police said in the press release. Once the facility was breached, the suspects entered and began using various tools to break glass display cases and steal firearms.
The stolen vehicle used to make entry was abandoned at the scene, left inside the building. The suspects at the scene exited the facility within approximately three minutes and fled the scene in a different vehicle. Both vehicles involved in this burglary were manufactured by Hyundai. The vehicle left at the scene was discovered to have been hotwired and was previously reported stolen out of St. Louis County.
During the incident, an alarm activation signaled the emergency contact for the business. The emergency contact reviewed the camera footage and contacted 911. From the time of 911 dispatching, the Wright City Police Department said its officers arrived on the scene in approximately 45 seconds.
The St. Charles County Police Department Forensic Unit performed crime scene processing.
