Record Managing EditorWarrenton police are following up on some “pretty strong leads” in connection to last week’s robbery at American Bank. However, Police Chief Greg Houdyshell could not release specific details related to the investigation. The bank, located on the North Service Road, was robbed at 10:31 a.m. on Jan. 13.The suspect is believed to be a 45- to 50-year-old white male, approximately 5-foot-8 and weighing 135 pounds. The subject fled on foot and was last seen walking in the area of Dairy Queen, located west of the bank.Houdyshell didn’t believe the suspect was seen on other business surveillance cameras from other businesses in the area.Though the majority of the tips didn’t pan out in the aftermath of the robbery, Houdyshell commended residents who contacted authorities.“It’s been good that everyone has been keeping their eyes out,” he said. The male suspect entered the bank and displayed a note demanding cash from a teller. The suspect implied he had a weapon, though none was flourished, Houdyshell reported. The suspect took an undisclosed amount of cash and left on foot around the west side of the bank building. No bank employees were injured.Police said he was wearing a maroon stocking cap, dark puffy coat, blue jeans and white shoes.Anyone with information on the robbery can contact the Warrenton Police Department at 636-456-7088.Bank Robbery Suspect
