A Cape Girardeau man was arrested for transporting more than 7 pounds of marijuana after being stopped on Interstate 70 by Foristell Police.Police say De’Ray E. Preston, 24, had the marijuana in vacuum sealed bags in his car when he was pulled over for a traffic violation on May 6. The arresting officer reported a strong odor of marijuana from the vehicle, prompting a search that revealed six bags, all labeled with various names, police said.Preston allegedly said he was taking the marijuana from Columbia back to Cape Girardeau, but police can’t confirm where the drugs came from, Chief Doug Johnson said.Preston is charged with delivery of a controlled substance, a Class C felony that carries a penalty of three to seven years in prison if he is convicted.He was taken to the Warren County Jail and posted a $10,000 bond the next day. His arraignment is May 17 at the Warren County Courthouse.De'Ray Preston
