Cash from a stolen safe was used to bail an accused burglar’s girlfriend out of jail, according to Warrenton police.Shawn Korschgen, 41, and Paige Harlan, 24, both of Warrenton, each are accused of second-degree burglary and receiving stolen property.Harlan was arrested Dec. 9 on drug charges and taken to the Warren County Jail, according to Warren County Circuit Court records. The same day, a woman reported a burglary at her home at the 1200 block of Highway 47, according to Warrenton police. The woman told police she arrived home in the afternoon and realized items had been tampered with. She reported a safe containing $800 was gone, along with $10,000 worth of jewelry.Further inquiry revealed that the victim had a personal connection to Harlan. The woman told police Harlan has knowledge of her work schedule, knew the code to her garage door and was aware of the location of her safe.Harlan’s boyfriend, Shawn Korschgen, reportedly used cash to bond her out of jail the same day as her arrest and the burglary, the police report states. When approached about the burglary, Harlan allegedly denied involvement, using her incarceration as an alibi — but the timing of the incident had never been mentioned to her, according to the report.Upon further questioning by Warrenton police, Harlan allegedly said Korschgen entered the victim’s residence without permission and stole the safe that contained the money to pay her bond. She also alleged Korschgen had attempted to sell the jewelry to a family member, police said.Burglary
