To The Editor:Collaboratively, the Warren County R-III employee associations and the superintendent would like to give you some assurances about Prop W.First, this proposition is for our students. The students benefit when staff is consistent and strong relationships are formed. We know that positive relationships are the key to student success. Relationships are formed over time. When a staff member leaves the district the relationship building process is required to start from scratch every year. The goal of Prop W is to retain our staff. One piece of retention is compensation. Our current compensation package for our staff is not competitive with districts to the east. We realize we will not be able to pay more than districts to the east. We are trying to close the widening gap. To become competitive Warren County R-III needs to increase revenue. Prop W is a 39-cent (per $100 assessed valuation) tax increase to go toward salary increases for all staff. All staff means all staff, and this includes our support staff like bus drivers and cooks. One of the goals of the school district is to keep taxes lower than other communities. If Prop W would pass, Warren County R-III will still have lower taxes than the current tax rates of Troy, Wentzville, Francis Howell, and Fort Zumwalt. We believe that our community will support our children. Please vote yes on Prop W on Aug. 6.Gregg Klinginsmith, SuperintendentDebbie Toebben, MSTA PresidentCara O’Neal, MSTA Vice PresidentHope Tinnin, NEA Co-PresidentTerrie Hunter, NEA Co-President
