Pierce places 22nd in asphalt debut at Martinsville

A blown engine in practice and having to steer clear of multiple wrecks couldn’t keep Bobby Pierce off the track at Martinsville Speedway.When all was said and done, he brought the No. 63 truck home in 22nd in his NASCAR Truck Series asphalt debut in the Kroger 200 Saturday.He qualified 28th for the Foristell-based team.Pierce had to avoid multiple wrecks that occurred directly in his path. Each time, he was able to navigate the wreckage and keep his truck clean. He finished on the lead lap in the 200-lap race.Saturday’s race was Pierce’s second Truck Series race and first on asphalt. The dirt track master scored the pole, a heat race victory and a second-place finish in the MudSummer Classic at Eldora earlier this season.MB Motorsports also fielded a second entry for Brandon Hightower, who was making his Truck Series debut. In the No. 08 truck, Hightower finished 27th and was four laps off the lead lap. He qualified 29th.MB Motorsports will be back in action Friday night at Texas Motor Speedway. According to the entry list, Justin Jennings and Garrett Smithley will return in the No. 63 and No. 36 trucks, respectively.
