The 14th annual Backstoppers dinner-dance fundraiser was held Saturday, Feb. 21, at St. Ignatius in Concord Hill. Backstoppers exists to help provide relief to families of fallen first responders. The Firefighters Pipes and Drums and the Marthasville Fire Protection District provided an honor guard to honor Warren County first responders who have lost their lives during their service to the county.
At Saturday's event, the late Frank Stuermann was remembered. Stuermann served on the board of directors for many years and provided a countless amount of support to the event. The Backstoppers board of directors wore John Deere green tshirts with the slogan "Respected, Remembered and Missed."
Backstoppers began in 1959 and provides support and financial assistance to the spouses and children.
