Peth, Thompson take second at Troy scramble

Eli Peth and Gavin Thompson had themselves a solid round of golf on Thursday.

Playing as one of three twosomes for the Warrenton golf team, the pair carded the second-lowest score in the Tory scramble, which took place at Woods Fort Golf Course.

The six-under-par shot by the pair was one stroke behind the championship twosome.

“We both knew we had a chance to win, but to actually execute was definitely nice,” Thompson said. “We both played well. I would say that when one of us struggled, the other pulled through for the team.”

The pairing secured birdies on holes No. 1, 2, 4, 5, 11 and 13 while parring every other hole. Four of the birdies came on holes of lengths over 450 yards.

Warrenton’s other pairs came in with higher scores as John Poindexter and Max Teson (+11) and Cooper Cornell and William Ohmes (+21) also took part.
