Record Managing EditorA one-year extension has been granted for a new site for Hometown Bakery.Aldermen last Tuesday granted an extension to the site plan and conditional use permit that were set to expire Nov. 18.The request, made by Hometown Bakery owner Kurt Wiltshire, was passed by a 5-0 vote. Ward 1 Alderman Karen Casserly was absent.Wiltshire has proposed relocating the business to a vacant property at 412 N. Highway 47, at the corner of Banner Avenue in Warrenton. The bakery is currently located at 902 E. Highway M in Truesdale.“He (Kurt Wiltshire) is still interested in the project,” said Jack Hanff, the city’s building officer/building commissioner.Mayor Eric Schleuter added that Wiltshire is seeking contractors.“It’s not like he’s sitting on his thumbs,” he said. “He is actually moving on it. I think he hit a bump in the road and needs a little extension.”At the time the project was first approved, renovations and improvements were planned to be made to the existing 1,265-square-foot, 1 1/2-story brick house already located on the property and for a 1,051-square-foot addition to be built on the east side of the existing structure. The new addition also would have a drive-thru window. The site plan featured an entrance off Highway 47 and two spots where customers can exit onto an adjacent alley.Hometown Bakery
