Authorities have charged a Pendleton man with second-degree assault and property damage after he allegedly struck a man and damaged his truck.
The charges were issued Jan. 7 against Steven E. Corder, 54, for an assault that was reported Nov. 30, 2019.
According to a Warren County Sheriff’s Department report, the assault began as an argument between Corder and another man at Corder’s residence on Pendleton Church Road, sometime after 6:30 p.m. The other man involved told deputies that the situation escalated when Corder allegedly threatened to stab him with a kitchen knife.
The man said Corder later struck his hand with a wooden tire thumper, a club-like tool for checking tire pressure.
When the man attempted to leave, he told deputies Corder began throwing large items at his pickup truck. The items reportedly broke the front windshield and a headlight.
