Pendelton Says Goodbye to One of its Oldest Buildings

Operators for Schulze Excavating & Grading cleared away the last of Slaten's Country Store in Pendleton Thursday.George Heath and Dana Heath are co-owners of Contintental Pump Co. at 29425 Highway B in Warrenton. Slaten's stood at 29392 Highway B, just across the railroad tracks from Continental Pump. The Heaths bought the property a month ago and began preparing it as an investment property.The property is 100 feet wide and a little more than 300 feet long. George Heath said the property could be used for a small convenience store or parking lot, but there are no plans at the moment.
