"Rivertowns," a movie featuring local historians and residents exploring the history of Missouri river communities, will air on Channel Nine PBS Wednesday, Sept. 26, at 7 p.m. The movie was inspired by the book “Growing Up With the River: Nine Generations on the Missouri,” authored by Dan and Connie Burkhardt, founders of the Katy Land Trust and owners of Peers Store in Marthasville and the Treloar Mercantile. The book is illustrated by artist Bryan Haynes.The film takes a look at nine generations who have grown up in nine different communities along the Missouri River. Various local historians and descendants of immigrants narrate the story.Growing Up with the River
