Warren County R-III officials alerted parents Wednesday that a student at Rebecca Boone Elementary had been found in possession of an unloaded airsoft gun.Another student saw the weapon on the bus to school and immediately reported it to a staff member when they arrived, according to a letter from interim superintendents Dr. Aaron Jones and Dr. Jill Schowe. Staff at the school confiscated the weapon and contacted law enforcement. No pellets were in the gun or in the possession of the student."We do not believe that students or staff at Rebecca Boone Elementary or on the bus were ever in any danger," the superintendents said. The incident is now under investigation by the district and local law enforcement.District policy classifies an airsoft gun as a projectile weapon. Elementary students in possession of a weapon could be suspended for up to 10 days, or longer based on superintendent discretion.Schowe said she could not comment on specific disciplinary action taken in this case.Warren County R-III School District logo
