A Wright City man was sentenced to 10 years in prison for breaking into neighboring homes and stealing mostly female clothing and hygiene products.Michael Stout, 19, pleaded guilty to multiple counts of stealing and burglary and a single county of property damage. He admitted to breaking into four homes over a two-month period last winter. He was sentenced Friday by Circuit Judge Kelly C. Broniec.Michael Stout was arrested Feb. 20, after he was interrupted during a home invasion in the 1100 block of Cedar Tree Lane outside of Wright City. A 16-year-old female living in the house called the Warren County Sheriff’s Department when she came home sick from school and found Stout in her bathroom. Stout fled into some nearby woods, but was apprehended about an hour later at his home.Further investigation revealed that Stout had been watching the female residents in his neighborhood. Over the past month he broke into four homes while the residents were away and stole items such as women’s underwear, clothing, food items, an iPod, laptop computer, and photographs. Investigators located and seized 59 pairs of ladies panties, two sex toys, photographs, assorted items of female clothing, and a Wal-Mart plastic bag containing dozens of used feminine hygiene products from Stout’s bedroom.
