Bridge painting projects at two Interstate 70 overpass bridges in Wright City will cause overnight lane closures scheduled to begin on July 11.
The Highway F/Elm Street bridge and Wildcat Drive bridge are both scheduled to be painted with a new protective coating. All work will be conducted during the nighttime hours of 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
During times when crews are actively working, traffic on I-70 will be reduced to one lane where crews are actively working and will include a 12-foot width restriction. All ramps will remain open, but minor traffic impacts may be experienced on the Highway F and Wildcat Drive bridges.
“The protective coating applied to the underside will help prolong the life expectancy of these bridges,” explained Missouri Department of Transportation Area Engineer Jeff Niemeyer.
All work is tentatively scheduled to be completed by mid-September. This work is weather dependent and schedules are subject to change.
The bridge painting contract was awarded earlier this year to Thomas Industrial Coatings of Pevely, Missouri, in the amount of $267,903.
“We ask motorists to please be attentive in work zones for their safety and the safety of highway workers. Please obey all traffic signs and personnel and eliminate distractions by putting down your phone,” added Niemeyer.
