Our Hair Salon puts a focus on looks — and community

Julie McCloud and Tina Lashley, co-owners of Our Hair Salon in Wright City, are excited to own their own business.And as members of the Wright City Chamber of Commerce, they hope to give back to their community as well.“We want to make sure that everybody’s experience is the same when they walk through the door,” says Lashley. Even, she says, if you can’t really afford that experience.Both owners have been stylists “for about 10 years,” says McCloud. Lashley started in 1999, working in the area before settling back down in Wright City, where she grew up.Our Hair Salon is located at 275 North Service Road West in Wright City.“We also do little girl diva birthday parties,” says Lashley. The girls get to have a styling session with Lashley or McCloud, while everyone else plays games in the waiting area. Then, “we do a little fashion runway . . . the parents don’t have to clean up anything,” says McCloud.Another focus for the salon is their wedding service.“We like being with people and experiencing their special day . . .and we’re good at it,” says McCloud.The pair offer a full salon service for a woman’s big day, even traveling to the site if necessary.“We didn’t name it Our Hair Salon because we own it . . . we can’t pay the bills if they don’t walk in the door,” says Lashley, who wants clients to feel like it’s their hair salon.The future for Our Hair Salon is “booking more weddings,” says Lashley. And, McCloud adds, “getting more involved in the community.”Our Hair Salon also offers the full Fairy Tales line of head lice repellent products.The salon can be contacted at 636-384-9614 or online at ourhairsalon.org.
