Mr. Oscar Jacob Hoard of Wright City passed away on Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at his home. He was born on May 11, 1936, in St. Louis to the late Oscar and Bessie (nee: Hudson) Hoard. Oscar had reached the age of 85 years.
Oscar was united in marriage to Dorothy Livengood on November 12, 1955, in St. Louis. To this union, four children were born. They celebrated 59 wonderful years together before her passing in 2015. Oscar and Dorothy were very passionate about family and caring for children in need. They raised 85 foster children and adopted three special needs children. Oscar was employed by General Motors for many years in St. Louis. He was also a member of the Wentzville Masonic Lodge #46. He enjoyed hunting for deer and rabbit and going fishing on his farm. Oscar was a devoted family man, and his family was the most important aspect of his life.
Oscar Hoard was preceded in death by his loving wife, Dorothy; his parents, Oscar and Bessie; two daughters, Mary Hoard and Cathy Hoard; two sisters and two brothers. He is survived by his children, Barbara Schaffrin and husband Mark, Shirley Ketterman and husband Ron, Susan Alva-Cabrera, Harris Hoard and wife Jane, Nathan "Hootie" Hoard; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
A visitation for Mr. Oscar Hoard will be held on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home in Warrenton. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow at St. Charles Memorial Gardens.
