The community is invited to learn more about opioid use and addiction at an awareness event from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, June 22, at Warrenton High School.The event aims to raise awareness that will lead to positive change for people and families struggling with addiction.The event will feature guest speakers from the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse. The Warrenton Police Department will discuss how to spot early warning signs of drug abuse and how to talk to family members about it.Warrenton Police Lt. Branden Weber will explain how items can be disguised to hide drug use in its early stages.Other community health organizations, addiction recovery groups and social support organizations will distribute information about services they offer for people struggling with addiction.Door prizes include pool and movie passes, trips to Big Joel’s Safari, and other items.Opioid awareness
