Open house, blood drive part of EMS Week activities

The Warren County Ambulance District has scheduled several activities next week as part of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week.An open house will be held Monday, May 18, from 4-7 p.m. to introduce parents to a new program called S.T.A.R.S. — Special Need Tracking and Awareness Response System. The event will be held at the district headquarters, at 604 Fairgrounds Road in Warrenton. Refreshments will be served.The S.T.A.R.S. program is for special needs pediatric patients and allows the district to learn more about what challenging and unique medical conditions they may encounter when responding to an emergency call.On Thursday, May 21, the ambulance district will host a blood drive from 9 a.m.-7 p.m. a the Knights of Columbus Hall, 700 S. St., in Truesdale. Donors can make an appointment by visiting redcrossblood.org and entering the sponsor code: WarrenCoAmDist.Pizza and sandwiches will be available in the canteen for donors. A valid photo identification is required.Throughout the week, winners of the district’s color contest will receive a ride in an ambulance to their school. Staff lunches will be sponsored by ARCH Air. In addition, employees will receive thank you bags containing EMS Week shirts and items donated by local businesses.The district will also participate in the Warren County Senior Center Open House.
