One person was killed and three others were injured in a crash on Interstate 70 early Monday morning.
The crash occurred just before 5 a.m. in the eastbound lanes, east of the 198 mile marker in Wright City. One vehicle was involved in the crash, according a Missouri State Highway Patrol report.
The driver of the vehicle, Denese Burton, 50, of Cahokia, Ill., was pronounced dead at the scene, the highway patrol said.
The highway patrol reported that Burton’s vehicle, a 2001 Dodge Durango, drove off the left side of the interstate and struck the cable median, causing the vehicle to overturn. Burton reportedly was not wearing a seat belt, and was ejected from the vehicle, the highway patrol said.
Warren County Ambulance District officials indicated that three other people were treated for injuries at the scene of the crash. However, no other information about those individuals has been released by the ambulance district or the highway patrol.
