Warrenton police say the suspect in an armed robbery at Schnucks last Friday was caught and jailed thanks to the combined effort of area law enforcement agencies.
Leonard D. Ragsdale, 41, of Wright City, was charged Jan. 3 with first-degree armed robbery. He is currently being held at the Warren County Jail.
According to a Warrenton Police report, the robbery happened just before 4 p.m. Jan. 3. A black male wearing a stocking cap and black jacket, later identified as Ragsdale, allegedly threatened a victim with a pistol and told her he needed money, according to police.
The victim provided the cash she had, and later told police that Ragsdale replied, “God bless.”
Officers launched a manhunt after collecting images of the suspect and the vehicle he left in. After providing the information to neighboring agencies, Warrenton police said Wright City officers had located the vehicle parked at a residence on the 900 block of North Ridge Place.
Police came to the residence, where they made contact with Ragsdale, who matched the image of the robbery suspect, police said.
Ragsdale allegedly admitted to police the he had committed the robbery at Schnucks. Police said they searched Ragsdale’s home and vehicle, and found the clothing he was wearing during the robbery, along with a 9 mm handgun.
Ragsdale had a hearing in Warren County Circuit Court scheduled for Jan. 7.
