Two people were hospitalized Thursday after their vehicle was hit by a dump truck at the intersection of Highway 47 and Highway N in southern Warren County.
Kenneth G. Weston, 66, of Columbia, was airlifted to University Hospital in Columbia with severe injuries after the crash, according to a Missouri Highway Patrol report. A passenger in the vehicle with him, Stef Weston, 28, of Columbia, had moderate injuries and was taken by ambulance to SSM Health St. Joseph Hospital in St. Charles.
The driver of the dump truck, Adam M. Hasenjaeger of Marthasville, was not injured.
The crash occurred at 4:40 p.m. Aug. 6. The highway patrol said Kenneth Weston was driving a 2013 Ford Fusion on Highway N and attempted to make a left turn onto Highway 47.
The highway patrol said Weston failed to yield to the Peterbilt 330 truck driven by Hasenjaeger, which was southbound on Highway 47. The dump truck struck the driver side of Weston’s vehicle, then traveled off the side of the road.
All three people involved were wearing seat belts, the highway patrol said.
Marthasville firefighters had to cut open Weston’s vehicle to extricate him from the crash, according to the Marthasville Fire Protection District.
