A Warrenton woman and Foristell woman sustained minor injuries in a crash Sunday, Oct. 4, at the same location in northwestern St. Charles County where a Wentzville woman died and two others were injured in a crash the day before, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The crash Sunday happened at 4:24 p.m., according to the highway patrol crash report, when a 2020 Buick Encore driven by the 79-year-old Warrenton woman, traveling westbound on Dietrich Road, failed to yield to a 2024 Volkswagen Atlas driven by the 40-year-old Foristell woman driving southbound on Highway 61.
The front of the Atlas struck the left rear of the Encore, causing it to go off the road and strike the cable media barrier, according to the crash report. Both drivers were wearing seat belts and sustained minor injuries, and were taken to SSM Health St. Joseph Hospital - Lake St. Louis by St. Charles County Ambulance district personnel for treatment.
The previous day, Saturday, Oct. 3, a 29-year-old Wentzville woman was killed, a 29-year-old O’Fallon woman was seriously injured, and a 50-year-old Florissant woman sustained minor injuries in a crash involving a tractor-trailer and a sedan at the same location, Dietrich Road and Highway 61.
In that crash, the O’Fallon woman was driving a 2021 Toyota Camry, and had been in the westbound crossover to Dietrich Road, when she attempted to cross southbound Highway 61 at approximately 3 p.m., driving into the path of a southbound 2024 Freightliner truck driven by the Florissant woman.
Both vehicles ran off the road and the Freightliner overturned, according to the crash report. The Wentzville woman, a passenger in the Camry, was pronounced deceased on the scene at 3:36 p.m. The O’Fallon woman was transported by Survival Flight 5 to Mercy Hospital St. Louis, and the Florissant woman was transported to SSM Health St. Joseph Hospital - Lake St. Louis by St. Charles Ambulance District personnel.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol no longer releases the names of the occupants involved in injury crashes.
