Ogata brings home 18th-place finish in debut with MB Motorsports

Akinori Ogata overcame a poor starting spot to finish 18th in Saturday’s NASCAR Truck Series race at New Hampshire.Making his debut with Foristell-based MB Motorsports, Ogata worked his way through the field in the No. 63 Chevrolet. He started 28th in the 32-truck field after a big spin during qualifying.It was Ogata’s second career Truck Series race. He is a native of Kanagawa, Japan, and has experience driving late model stock cars in the NASCAR’s K&N Pro Series East.“It was a good day today,” said team owner Mike Mittler in a release. “Akinori acclimated himself to the track quite well and after the spin in practice, he maintained his composure and continually improved his position on the track as the race progressed.”This is the first of three races Ogata is scheduled to drive for MB Motorsports. He will complete in this Saturday’s race at Las Vegas and Oct. 24 at Talledega.Justin Jennings drove the team’s second entry and finished 32nd. He exited the race after seven laps with electrical issues. He qualified 27th.
