On the afternoon of Sept. 27, Warrenton Police officers responded to reports of a burglary at the Best Box Storage Facility located on Highway AA in Warrenton.
When officers arrived, the victim stated that the two suspects had already fled the scene, one on foot and one in a gold Dodge Grand Caravan, according to the probable cause statement.
The victim said he watched Mandy Moss, 43, of O'Fallon, along with another suspect, break into his storage unit and remove a number of items.
According to the victim, those items included a power washer, two retail rolling carts, 10 sets of bedding and linens, a large paint sprayer and several power tools totaling an estimated value of $1,500.
Moss, and the other suspect, who are in a relationship according to the probable cause statement, had previously rented the storage unit they had stolen from. They had defaulted on the payments and teh unit was auctioned to the victim.
The victim said he was unable to gain access to the unit when he first purchased it and had to drill the lock to open the door. The unit was left unsecured at the time of the theft.
Moss has been charged with one county of stealing $750 or more and one county of burglary in the second degree, both are felonies.
