Warren County authorities have charged an O’Fallon man accused of a violent attack against a woman outside Wright City in February.
Austin J. Hoelting, 24, is charged with second-degree domestic assault for allegedly assaulting a woman he was traveling with, according to the Warren County Sheriff’s Department. Hoelting was arrested Feb. 21, a sheriff’s department arrest report states.
According to the report, a deputy was dispatched to the area of Klausmeier Road, north of Wright City, around 1:30 a.m. after a woman called 911 screaming for help. The deputy found the woman, who was reportedly frantic and asking for protection from Hoelting.
The woman told deputies that Hoelting had pulled her out of the vehicle and slammed her against the ground, knocking her unconscious, according to the arrest report. When the woman woke up, she ran and tried to hide, but said Hoelting hunted her down and slammed her to the ground again.
Deputies reported that the woman appeared to have swelling on the back of her head and on her ankle, which was injured while she tried to escape.
Hoelting was taken to the Warren County Jail and is currently free on a $1,000 bond. He has a court hearing scheduled for March 23.
