Leroy Ridgway

1924 - 2010

Leroy Ridgway, 86,   New Florence, passed   away Friday, Sept. 3, 2010, at his residence.

 Mr. Ridgway was born June 21, 1924, in Hallsville, the son of Glen Ridgeway and wife Edith, nee Stover. 

 Mr. Ridgway enlisted in the U.S. Navy on Oct. 31, 1942, and served in World War II until Dec. 17, 1945. Upon coming home, he started working for the Norfolk and Western Railroad until his retirement in 1976.

On Sept. 24, 1949, he was united in marriage to Reba June Sherman in Lowry City. They were married 62 years.

 Mr. Ridgway enjoyed any kind of outdoor activity. He especially loved to hunt and fish. He passed his love for the outdoors on to his kids and grandchildren. Mr. Ridgway liked spending a lot of time with his family and friends. He will be missed by all who knew him. 

 He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Ridgway is survived by his wife June Ridgway, New  Florence; five sons, Bob Ridgway, Curt Ridgway, Jim Ridgway, Kenny Ridgway and Warren Ridgway; three daughters, Eydie Brooks, Rose Ballentine and Joanne Howell; two brothers, Gerald Ridgway and Bernard Ridgway; one sister, Nadine Reams; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; nieces, nephews; other relatives and many friends.

 Mr. Ridgway was cremated and a celebration of life will be held at a later date. Condolences to the family may be made at www.hardingfh.com.

Geraldine M. Russell

1930 - 2010

 Geraldine "Gerry" Mary Russell, 80, Jonesburg, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010, at the Jonesburg Nursing and Rehab in Jonesburg.

 Mrs. Russell was born May 19, 1930, in St. Louis, the daughter of Theodore Stahl and wife Ellen, nee Pidgeon.

On Feb. 5, 1948, she married Jack M. Russell in St. Charles. 

 Mrs. Russell worked at Monsanto Corporation in the shipping department until her retirement. She loved spending time with her family, reading and attending the kids ballgames when they were growing up and going to watch the grandkids play ball.

 She was preceded in death by her parents.

Mrs. Russell is survived by her husband of 62 wonderful years, Jack M. Russell, Jonesburg; four sons, Jack Russell and wife Gloria, Hartshorne, Okla., Jim Russell and Jay Russell and wife Bobbie, all of Jonesburg, Jeff Russell and wife Julie, Warrenton; three daughters, Jeri Martin and husband Charles, Jonesburg, Janet Zoellner and husband Mike, Wentzville, and Judy Landrum and husband Mark, Montgomery City; two brothers, Theodore Stahl and wife Norma, Iola, Kan., and Robert Stahl and wife Connie, Whitney, Texas; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends. A gathering of friends will be held Friday, Sept. 10, from 10 a.m. until time of service at Harding Funeral Home in Jonesburg. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. 

 In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the Shriners Hospital in care of Harding Funeral Home, P.O. Box 186, Jonesburg, MO 63351. Condolences for the family may be made at www.hardingfh.com.

Peter L. Wilson

1957 - 2010

 Peter Lawrence Wilson, 52, Bellflower, passed away Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010, at Lincoln County Hospital in Troy.

 Mr. Wilson was born Nov. 23, 1957, in St. Louis, the son of Wyatt Wilson and wife Rita, nee Cox. 

 On Nov. 18, 1978, he was united in marriage to Fanny Jones in St. Francois County. 

 He worked at Montgomery County Road and Bridge until he became sick and could  no longer work. He liked to fish and do karaoke.

Mr. Wilson was preceded in death by his father. 

 He is survived by his wife, Fanny Wilson, Bellflower; four children, Megan Fox, New Haven, Frank Wilson, Hawk Point, Chris Wilson and Sara Wilson, both of Bellflower; his mother, Rita Cox, Richmond Heights; his siblings, Cathy Rajchart, Tim Wilson, Wyatt Wilson and Phil Wilson, all of St. Louis, Ronnie Schuppan and Dave Wilson, both of Tennessee state, and Joe Wilson, Jonesburg; seven grandchildren; nieces, nephews; other relatives and many friends.

 Funeral services were held Wednesday, Sept. 8, at Harding Funeral Home in Jonesburg. 

 Mr. Wilson was cremated.

 Memorials to the family in care of Harding Funeral Home, P.O. Box 186, Jonesburg, MO 63351 are preferred.

Arthur K. Beckmeyer

1949 - 2010

 Arthur Kent Beckmeyer, 60, Warrenton, passed away Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010, at St. Joseph Hospital West, Lake Saint Louis. 

 Mr. Beckmeyer was born Nov. 30, 1949, in Tulsa, Okla., the son of James R. Beckmeyer and wife Norma Lee, nee Simpson. 

 He was the owner of Beckmeyer TV and Appliance and also served as a Wright City police officer.

Mr. Beckmeyer enjoyed being outdoors working in the yard and taking care of his flowers.

 He was preceded in death by his parents. 

 Mr. Beckmeyer is survived by his wife, Lucille Beckmeyer, nee Schwentker, Warrenton; two daughters, Kelly C. Broniec, Montgomery City, and Kimberly R. DiBenedetto and husband Jess, Monterey, Calif.; two brothers, Kurt D. Beckmeyer, and wife Jeannie California state, and James R. Beckmeyer and wife Kristin, Wright City; three granddaughters, Katie and Hannah Broniec and Julia DiBenedetto; other relatives and many friends.

 Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 5, at Pitman Funeral Home, Warrenton. Burial was private.

 Memorials to The Child Center in care of Pitman Funeral Home, P.O Box 126, Warrenton, MO 63383 are preferred. 

 The family was served by Pitman Funeral Home, Warrenton.

 

Thomas E. Bowles

1964 - 2010

Thomas "Tom" Eugene Bowles, 46, St. Charles, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010, at St. Joseph Health Center, St. Charles. 

 Mr. Bowles was born July 21, 1964, in St. Louis, the son of Gary Bowles and wife Frances, nee Cooper.

 He was a fork lift driver and best friend to his beloved pets, Louis, Sam and Katie.

Mr. Bowles was preceded in death by his parents. 

 He is survived by his wife, Veronica Bowles, St. Charles; two daughters, Ciera Bowles and Chelsea Bowles, both of St. Charles; one brother, Robert Bowles and wife Debbie, Jefferson City; one sister, Phyllis Baugh and husband Donn, Wright City; 10 nieces and nephews, Kelly, Andrea, Nicole, Megan and Branna, and Daniel, Kristopher, Gary, Tyler and Brandon; other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Sept. 7, at Pitman Funeral Home, Wentzville, with the Rev. Terry Burke officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Louis.

 Memorials to the family for final expenses in care of Pitman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 248, Wentzville, MO 63385 are preferred. 

 The family was served by Pitman Funeral Home, Wentzville.

 

Private funeral services were held for William “Billy” L. Moffat, 53, Foristell. 

Mr. Moffat died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010, at his home. 

He is survived by his parents, James and Georgia Moffat Jr.; his wife, Cheryl Moffat; one son, J.D. Moffat; two daughters, Heather Aune and husband, Eric, and Jessica Moffat; other relatives and many friends.

The family was served by Pitman Funeral Home, Wentzville.

 

Funeral services for Elizabeth J. “Betty” Peters Hurt, 81, Piedmont, were held Saturday, Sept. 4, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, De Soto. 

Mrs. Hurt died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010, at her home. 

She is survived by her husband, Carl D. Hurt; one daughter, Susan Ferranto; one son, Scott Peters and wife Janice; three stepsons, Michael Hurt and wife Cheryl, Carlton “Gene” Hurt and wife Carol, and Scott Hurt and wife Sara; two stepdaughters, Carla Daum and husband Rob, and Shelly Dowd and husband John; other relatives and many friends. 

The family was served by Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, De Soto.

 

Funeral services for James H. Crollay, 84, Warrenton, were held Wednesday, Sept. 8, at Pitman Funeral Home, Warrenton. 

Mr. Crollay died Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010, at St. Joseph Hospital West, Lake Saint Louis. 

He is survived by two sons, Dean Barley and wife Kathy, and Dale Barley and wife Barbara; two daughters, Faye Burgess and Mary Laspas and husband Bill; other relatives and many friends. 

The family was served by Pitman Funeral Home, Warrenton.

 

Funeral services for Christian Max Cotter, infant son of Brian Cotter, O’Fallon, and Jessica Snider, Wright City, were held Sunday, Sept. 5, at Pitman Funeral Home, Wentzville. 

Burial was in Eternal Peace Cemetery, Wentzville.

Christian passed away Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2010, at DePaul Hospital, St. Louis. 

He is survived by his father, Brian Cotter; his mother, Jessica Snider; one brother, Patrick Cotter; and other relatives.

The family was served by Pitman Funeral Home, Wentzville.

 

Visitation for Ethel Laura Bair, 104, Augusta, will be held Thursday, Sept. 9, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Pitman Funeral Home, Public and Walnut, Augusta, with funeral services following at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Boeuff Cemetery, Gerald.

Mrs. Bair died Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2010, at Cedarcrest Manor in Washington. 

She is survived by one daughter, Lavinia Long; other relatives and many friends. 

The family is being served by Pitman Funeral Home, Augusta.
