Obituaries for Thursday, May 27 Edition Alfred S. Callaway Jr. 1929 - 2010 Alfred Sherrill Callaway Jr., 81, Truxton, passed away on Friday, May 21, 2010, at the residence of his son, Fred. He was known as Grandpa Cal or Cal to those dear to him. Mr. Callaway was born April 1, 1929, in Chicago, Ill., the son of Alfred S. Callaway Sr. and wife Agnes G., nee McDonough. On June 25, 1982, in Hillsboro, he was united in marriage to Deborah L. Gorsuch. They celebrated 27 years of marriage. Mr. Callaway served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1951-1955 in the Korean War. He retired from Bropfs Mobile Home in St. Charles. After his retirement he worked at Wal-Mart in Troy as a greeter. Mr. Callaway was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Debbie, Truxton; one son, Fred Callaway and wife Debbie, Warrenton; three daughters, Sherrie Reres, Maryland Heights, Mary Valenti and Barb Melchert and husband Mike, all of Scottsdale, Ariz.; one brother, Richard Callaway and wife Connie, Sarasota, Fla.; 11 grandchildren, George, Kathleen and husband Casey, Rebecca and husband Cody, Richard and wife Jen, Sean and wife Nikki, Kara and husband Dave, Tony and wife Brandy, Joe and wife Jenny, T.J., John and wife Justine and Chrissie and husband Josh; 12 great-grandchildren, Jaeden, Katie, Cody, Baby Callaway, Caleb, Brody, Reese, Kaylee, Baby G., Ting, Joenni and Dina; other relatives and many friends. A memorial service was held Tuesday, May 25, at Martin Funeral Home, Warrenton. Burial followed at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis. Memorials to St. Jude Children's Hospital in care of Martin Funeral Home, 510 E. Main St., Warrenton, MO 63383 are preferred. The family was served by Martin Funeral Home, Warrenton. Ardell G. Ruether 1952-2010 Ardell Gerard Ruether, 58, Marthasville, passed away Wednesday, May 19, 2010, at Moberly Regional Medical Center in Moberly. Mr. Ruether was born March 9, 1952, in Marthasville, the son of Jerome Vincent Ruether and wife Eileen M., nee Heggemann. He was a self-employed carpenter and a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Concord Hill. Mr. Ruether was preceded in death by his father, Jerome, and one niece, Hannah. He is survived by his mother, Eileen M. Ruether, Marthasville; one son, Shaun Ruether and wife Stephanie, Herculaneum; four brothers, Gary Ruether and wife Michelle, Dale Ruether and Kevin Ruether, all of Marthasville, and Karl Ruether and wife Monica, Union; five sisters, Sandy Atkinson and husband Jim, Washington, Marikay Westhoff and husband Stan, Krakow, Jeanne Dothage and husband Bruce, Lori Huenefeld and husband Alan, and Lois Ruether, all of Marthasville; two grandchildren, Sydney and Samuel; 15 nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends. A funeral Mass was held on Monday, May 24, at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Concord Hill with the Rev. Finbarr Dowling officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Memorials to St. Ignatius Catholic School in care of Martin Funeral Home, 510 E. Main St. , Warrenton, MO 63383 are preferred. The family was served by Lichtenberg-Martin Funeral Home, Marthasville. Whitaker Passes Joyce Ruth Whitaker, 78, Warrenton, passed away Wednesday, May 19, 2010. She is survived by three daughters, Karin Whitaker, Dawn Hedley and Cynthia Tang; other relatives and many friends. The family was served by Martin Funeral Home, Warrenton.
