Obituaries for Thursday, January 14, 2010 Edition Roger O. Stonebarger 1938-2010 Roger Otis Stonebarger, 71, Warrenton, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2010, at DePaul Health Center, Bridgeton. Mr. Stonebarger was born Aug. 3, 1938, in Truesdale, the son of William D. Stonebarger and wife Littie Fern, nee Good. Mr. Stonebarger was a maintenance man. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Roger L. Stonebarger, one daughter, Marla Jean Griffy, three brothers, Eldon Stonebarger, Jospeh Stonebarger and Leon Stonebarger, and one sister, Maxine Stonebarger. Mr. Stonebarger is survived by his wife, Melba J. Stonebarger, Warrenton; two sons, Doug E. (Carrie) Stonebarger, Warrenton, and Mike S. (Patricia) Stonebarger, Montgomery City; one daughter, Rachelle R. (Lonnie) Piatt, Warrenton; one brother, Ronnie (Kathy) Stonebarger, Arnold; two sisters, Carol (John) Luetkmeyer, and Launa Wyatt, all of Warrenton; 16 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends. Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 11, at Pitman Funeral Home, Warrenton, with the Rev. Chris Batjer officiating. Burial was in Warrenton City Cemetery. The family was served by Pitman Funeral Home, Warrenton. Alvin R. Overy 1919-2010 Alvin R. Overy, 90, Marthasville, formerly of Florissant and West Alton, passed away Monday, Jan. 11, 2010, at his home. Mr. Overy was born in July 1919, the son of David J. Overy and wife Margaret C., nee Lott. He served his country during World War II as a medic in the 28th Field Artillery Battalion of the U.S. Army. He was employed by McDonnell Douglas for many years and owned and operated Garden and Lawn Equipment Co. in Florissant. Mr. Overy was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Merry Lee, nee Zorn, his second wife, Ruby, and special friend, Virginia Johnson, his brothers, Melvin (his twin), Dave and Edward, and granddaughter, Lynette Geisler. He is survived by one son, Alvin T. and wife Cindy, Cumberland, Md.; two daughters, Merry Geisler and husband Ron, Florissant, and Sandra Walls and husband Mark, Marthasville; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held Thursday, Jan. 14, at 10 a.m. until prayer service at noon, at Hutchens Mortuary, 675 Graham Road, Florissant. Burial will be in St. Ferdinand Cemetery, Florissant. Memorials to Shriners Hospital for Children are preferred. The family is being served by Hutchens Mortuary, Florissant. Dorothy J. Hafner 1919-2010 Dorothy J. Hafner, 90, Pendleton, passed away Friday, Jan. 8, 2010, at St. Joseph Health Center, St. Charles. Mrs. Hafner was born June 19, 1919, in Gambier, Ohio, the daughter of Gasper Jameron and wife Matilda, nee Gilbert. She was a purchasing agent. She loved quilting, was involved in antique car shows and had a zest for life. Mrs. Hafner was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Joseph Hafner, and one daughter, Janet Grace Schoope. She is survived by her granddaughter, Donita Bryant, Pendleton; one great-grandchild; and one great-great-grandchild; other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be Friday, Jan. 15, from 5-7 p.m. at Pitman Funeral Home, 904 S. Highway 47, Warrenton. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. Burial will be private. Memorials to Animal Welfare Association of Warren County in care of Pitman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 126, Warrenton, MO 63383 are preferred. The family is being served by Pitman Funeral Home, Warrenton. Funeral services for Alberta M. Burgan, 78, Pevely, were held Monday, Jan. 11, at Vinyard Hillcrest Funeral Home, Pevely. Mrs. Burgan died Thursday, Jan. 7, 2010, at her home. She is survived by three sons, Joseph (Angel) Burgan Jr., John (Debra) Burgan, Neal Burgan; four daughters, Barb (Bill) Peoples, Cindy Doza, Charlotte (Robert) Lee, Cheryl Schmitt, and Linda (Rick) Boyer; other relatives and many friends. The family was served by Vinyard Funeral Home, Festus. Funeral services for Lois Irene Stickrod, 92, St. Charles, were held Monday, Jan. 11, at Baue Funeral Home Chapel, St. Charles. Mrs. Stickrod died Thursday, Jan. 7, 2010. She is survived by her husband, Marvin E. Stickrod; one son, John (Linda) Stickrod; one daughter, Linda (Wayne) Samland; other relatives and many friends. The family was served by Baue Funeral Home, St. Charles.
