Evelyn Sanders
1913 - 2011
Evelyn Sanders, 97, Jonesburg, passed away Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011, at the Jonesburg Nursing and Rehab in Jonesburg. Mrs. Sanders was born Nov. 10, 1913, in Hazelwood, the daughter of Francis Tully Henderson Sr. and wife Mary Ellen, nee Nolan. She was united in marriage to Robert "Jack" Sanders on Feb. 1, 1930, in Illinois. They moved to Warren County in 1968 and became members of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Jonesburg. Mrs. Sanders worked at the Market Basket in Jonesburg as a clerk for numerous years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Mary Ellen Henderson, her husband, Jack Sanders, two daughters, Ann Sanders and Nan Sanders, four brothers, five sisters, one daughter-in-law, Janet Sanders, one son-in-law, Bill Moritz, one grandson, David Moritz, and one great-grandson, Jacob Stevens.
Mrs. Sanders is survived by five sons, Bob Sanders, St. Peters, Jim Sanders and wife Nora, Ozark, Don Sanders, Jonesburg, Bill Sanders and wife Karen, Eldon, and Ed Sanders, Cuba, Mo.; three daughters, Mary Stevens and husband Bob, Sandy Moritz and husband Tom Waddell, all of Jonesburg, and Shirley Sanders and friend Tim Newton, St. Charles; one brothers, Thomas Henderson, Florissant; one sister, Elizabeth Scholle, Bridgeton; 22 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Jan. 13, at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Jonesburg. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Jonesburg. Alvin R. Nichols
1931-2011 Alvin Raymond Nichols, 79, Jonesburg, passed away Monday, Jan. 3, 2011, at Boone County Hospital in Columbia. Mr. Nichols was born May 15, 1931, in Purdin, the son of Arthur Nichols and wife Vera, nee Thompson. He served his country in the U.S. Army from Jan. 25, 1952-Dec. 29, 1953. He served during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Nichols married Charlotte Wisdom on May 29, 1954, in Ferguson. He was a member of the First United Methodist Presbyterian Church in Montgomery City and an over-the-road truck driver until his retirement. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, two sisters, and his daughter-in-law, Shelley Nichols. Mr. Nichols is survived by his wife, Charlotte Nichols, Jonesburg; two sons, David Nichols, Cape Girardeau, and Daryl Nichols, Warrenton; one daughter, Denise Nichols, St. Charles; one sister, Arlene Smith, Granite City, Ill.; two grandchildren, Amanda and Christopher Nichols, Cape Girardeau; other relatives and many friends. Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 10, at the First United Methodist Presbyterian Church in Montgomery City. Burial was in the Jonesburg City Cemetery with Military Honors.

Funeral services for Dennie George Knapp, 76, O’Fallon, were held Friday, Jan. 7, at Pitman Funeral Home, Wentzville. Mr. Knapp died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2011, at St. Joseph Hospital West, Lake Saint Louis. He is survived by his wife, Beverly Knapp; three sons, Joseph Knapp, Charles Knapp and Daniel Stout; four daughters, Gail Johnson, Annette Knapp, Denice Callaway and Debra Johnson. The family was served by Pitman Funeral Home, Wentzville. Funeral services for LaVerne Louisa Sprick, 76, Berger, were held Saturday, Jan. 8, at Toedtmann-Grosse Funeral Home, Hermann. Mrs. Sprick died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2011, at her residence. She is survived by one daughter, Cindy Juergensmeyer and husband Duth; two stepsons, Larry Sprick and Terry Sprick; one stepdaughter, LuAnn Sprick; other relatives and many friends. The family was served by Toedtmann-Grosse Funeral Home, Hermann. Funeral services for Thomas Edward Lipp, 59, Eolia, were held Friday, Jan. 7, at Pitman Funeral Home, Wentzville. Mr. Lipp died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2011, at his home. He is survived by his parents, Norman E. Lipp and Lillian Lipp; two daughters, Bonnie Garcia and husband Richard, and Tammy Goos and husband Bryon; other relatives and many friends. The family was served by Pitman Funeral Home, Wentzville.
