Lois J. Rell 1935-2011 Lois Jane Rell, 76, Wright City, passed away Friday Dec. 23, 2011, in Fredericksburg, Va. Mrs. Rell was born Oct. 15, 1935, in Duncan, the daughter of William L. Brown and wife Alice Mary, nee Shepard. She worked in banking. She was preceded in death by her parents, William L. Brown and wife Alice Mary, nee Shepard; her husband, Bernard Rell; and one son, Alan Lynn Rell. She is survived by one brother, Tony Brown, Fredericksburg, Va.; and one daughter-in-law, Eva Rell-Rose, Wright City. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Warrenton. Burial will be in Friedens Cemetery, St. Louis. Memorials to M.A.D.D. (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) in care of Pitman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 126, Warrenton, MO 63383 are preferred. The family is being served by Pitman Funeral Home, Warrenton. Robert O. Stevens 1933-2012 Robert Orville Stevens, 78, Jonesburg, passed away Sunday, Jan. 1, 2012, at his home. Mr. Stevens was born Nov. 3, 1933, in Northville, S.D., the son of Robert K. Stevens and wife Artie L. He was a carpenter and member of Carpenters' Union Local 47 for 55 years and St. Patrick Catholic Church, Jonesburg. He loved spending time outdoors. “Big Steve” was a gentle mountain of a man who was very giving of his time and sharing his talents over the years. In his youth, he volunteered many hours into the development of the Hazelwood Khoury League involving himself in property acquisition, field development and day-to-day operations. He was never a stranger for long to most people he met and his courteous nature made him easily approachable and respected. He attracted people who had great influence on his family and remained friends over these many years. He remained proud of his children and grandchildren and took joy in being there for them all. He fought his cancer as though it deserved his best. His best is what he always gave and responsibility is what he taught. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert K. Stevens and wife Artie L.; one grandson, Jacob Stevens; one sister, Roberta Sylvester; and one brother, Walter Elvin Stevens. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Stevens, nee Sanders, Jonesburg; three sons, Dan Stevens and wife Betsy, Lake Saint Louis, Bob Stevens and wife Cheryl, St. Charles, and Bruce Stevens and wife Kathy, Warrenton; two daughters, Pam Robinson, Jonesburg, and Stacy Beck and husband Tom, Granite City, Ill.; three sisters, Alta Langsdorf, Riverside, Calif., Etta Henning, Ash Grove, and Margaret Edds, Williamsburg, Kan.; one brother, Kenneth Stevens, Florissant; 16 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 5, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Jonesburg. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Jonesburg. Memorials to Make a Wish or St. Patrick Catholic Church, Jonesburg, in care of Pitman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 126, Warrenton, MO 63383 are preferred. The family is being served by Pitman Funeral Home, Warrenton. Funeral services for Marvin “Tinker” Franklin Garrett, 91, High Hill, were held Monday, Jan. 2, at Jonesburg United Methodist Church. Burial was in Jonesburg City Cemetery.Mr. Franklin died Thursday, Dec. 29, 2011, at his home.He is survived by his wife, Anna Katherine, nee Lockwood, High Hill; three sons, Richard Garrett and wife Alice, Jonesburg, Jerry Garrett and wife Cherry, Albany, Ga., and Leslie Garrett and wife Ellen, High Hill; three daughters, Lindsay Garrett, High Hill, Anita Finke and husband Kenneth, Montgomery City, and Kathy Anderson and husband Lee, Monroe City; other relatives and friends.The family was served by Pitman Funeral Home, Jonesburg. A memorial service for Mavis Kay Houston, 70, Wright City, will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 8, at Foristell Christian Church.Mrs. Houston died Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2011, at Barnes-St. Peters Hospital, St. Peters.There will be a graveside service at a future date for the burial of her cremains remains in Harrison Cemetery, Buckner, Ill.She is survived by two daughters, Rhonda Rothchild and Marsha Schnarre and husband Randy; and four sons, Greg Mezo and wife Mary, Kevin Mezo, Brad Mezo and wife Debbie, and Nobel Mezo and wife Renee; other relatives and friends.The family is being served by Alternative Funeral and Cremation Services, St. Peters.
