Obituaries for Thursday, February 4, 2010 Edition Marion E. Schroeder 1934-2010 Marion E. Schroeder, 75, Wentzville, passed away Monday, Jan. 4, 2010, at St. Joseph Hospital West, Lake Saint Louis. Miss Schroeder was born June 3, 1934, in Wentzville, the daughter of Eugene H. Schroeder and wife Catherine A., nee Mispagel. She was a farmer and a member of St. Patrick Church, a past member of Wentzville Economic Development and a past member of Wentzville MFA Board. Miss Schroeder was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by three brothers, James Schroeder and Chuck Schroeder, both of Wentzville, and Art Schroeder, Foristell; other relatives and many friends. Funeral services were held Thursday, Jan. 7, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Wentzville with the Rev. Pat O'Laughlin officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Jefferson 1922-2010 Thomas Russell Jefferson, 87, Columbia, formerly of Montgomery City, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2010, at St. Joseph Hospital West, Lake Saint Louis. Mr. Jefferson was born May 22, 1922, in Buell the second child and first son to James Arlee "James Lee" Jefferson and wife Estella Mae, nee Sawyers. Mr. Jefferson served his country in the U.S. Army from Nov. 16, 1942, until Feb. 6, 1946. He served overseas in the South Pacific and was stationed in Guam. Mr. Jefferson worked many jobs in his lifetime. He worked at the Farmer Store in High Hill, Jonesburg Nursing Home, for the Civil Service in Tacoma, Wash., the Christian College in Columbia and as a farmer. He retired from the Veterans Hospital in St. Louis where he was working as a cook. His love was cooking and all the family enjoyed what he made including his famous cornbread that tasted like cake. He also had a love for animals. Through his years he had all kinds of dogs but his favorites were his coon dogs. Mr. Jefferson loved watching the walking horses and attending the horse shows at the state fair. He joined the Jonesburg Methodist Church when he was 9 years old. When he moved from Jonesburg to Montgomery City, he became a member of the Harper's Chapel United Methodist Church in Montgomery City. He served as a lay leader for many years and was very active in the church and helped in rebuilding the new church. Mr. Jefferson believed his purpose was to serve God. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Charles Curtis Jefferson and William Sylvester Jefferson, and three sisters, Leora Mae Jefferson, Mary Helen Jefferson and Mildred Lucille Martin. Mr. Jefferson is survived by one son, Kevin Cole, Warrenton; two daughters, Angela Cox, St. Louis, and Linda Harris, Columbia; one sister, Rose Marie Gibbs, Detroit, Mich.; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends. Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 30, at Harding Funeral Home, Jonesburg, with Military honors. Burial will be at a later time. Memorials to the family are preferred. Walter Brasher 1928-2010 Walter Brasher, 81, Warrenton, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2010, at his home. Mr. Brasher was born Sept. 8, 1928, in Colbert, Okla., the son of Hiram Joseph Brasher and wife Nora Mae, nee Goodin. He was an assemblyman. Mr. Brasher was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Bobbi Brasher, Warrenton; one son, Alan (Connie) Brasher, Wichita Falls, Texas; one daughter, Terri (Woody) Thorn, Warrenton; one brother, Joe Brasher, Wichita, Kan.; one sister, Susie Adams, Wichita Falls, Texas; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; other relatives and many friends. A graveside service and burial was held Thursday, Jan. 28, at Warrenton City Cemetery with the Rev. Steven Dull officiating. Memorials to SSM Hospice in care of Pitman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 248, Wentzville, MO 63385 are preferred. The family was served by Pitman Funeral Home, Warrenton. Funeral services for Judith D. Patton, 57, Warrenton, were held Monday, Feb. 1, at Pitman Funeral Home, Warrenton. Mrs. Patton died Friday, Jan. 29, 2010, at her home. She is survived by her husband, Jim Patton; two daughters, Danielle Patton and Jaime Patton; other relatives and many friends. The family was served by Pitman Funeral Home, Warrenton.
