Gwaltney 1917-2011 Leland Loyd "Curly" Gwaltney, 93, Warrenton, passed away Monday, Feb. 14, 2011, at Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital, St. Peters. Mr. Gwaltney was born Aug. 8, 1917, in Eldorado, Ill., the son of Leland Gwaltney and wife Lemmey, nee Holman. He was united in marriage to his first wife, Mamie Evelyn Long, on Jan. 3, 1937. They celebrated 37 years of marriage. He was united in marriage to Sadie Ella Adkins on Oct. 16, 1981. They celebrated 14 years of marriage. Mr. Gwaltney was a shear operator at Binkley Company in Warrenton until he retired on Aug. 31, 1979. He was a member of Warrenton Baptist Church in Warrenton. He enjoyed socializing at the Warren County Senior Center in Warrenton and attending dances with his friends every weekend. He was fond of traveling all around the country. Mr. Gwaltney was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Mamie on Nov. 24, 1974, his second wife Sadie on Aug. 31, 1995, one son, Ronald, and two brothers, Lawrence and Lorn. He is survived by two daughters, Evelyn Gwaltney, Wentzville, and Sandra O'Dell and husband Mitchell, O'Fallon; one sister-in-law, Mary Jane Gwaltney, St. Louis; other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held Thursday, Feb. 17, from 4-8 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home, 510 E. Main, Warrenton. Polston, 87, Warrenton, passed away Monday, Feb. 7, 2011, at St. Joseph Hospital West, Lake Saint Louis. Mrs. Polston was born Oct. 19, 1923, in Warren County, the daughter of Thomas Cook and wife Clara, nee Dothage. She was united in marriage to Joseph W. Polston on July 22, 1945, in Warrenton. They celebrated 28 years of marriage. Mrs. Polston was a homemaker. She worked at IGA in the 1940s and at Paradise Donut Shop for 22 years in Warrenton. She was a member of College United Methodist Church, Suzanna's and the Truesdale Community Club. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Joseph, on March 19, 1973, and one brother, Warren. Mrs. Polston is survived by two sons, Dale Polston and wife Donna, Warrenton, and Charles W. Polston and wife Patty, Troy; one brother, Herbert "Bert" Cook and wife Margie, Warrenton; two sisters, Hazel Slatten and Delores "Babe" Aston, both of Warrenton; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; other relatives and many friends. Mrs. Fuhr was born May 31, 1922, in Marthasville, the daughter of William Ridder and wife Elvina, nee Offel. She was united in marriage to Clarence L. Fuhr on Dec. 26, 1941, in Augusta. They celebrated 65 years of marriage. Mrs. Fuhr was a homemaker and a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Augusta. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Clarence, who passed away on Dec. 24, 2006, three brothers, Elmer, Edwin and Walter, and one sister, Ora Averbeck. Sally Ann Quan 1937-2011 Sally Ann Quan, 73, Warrenton, passed away Sunday, Jan. 23, 2011, at Lincoln County Nursing and Rehab in Troy. Mrs. Quan was born Aug. 11, 1937, in St. Louis, the daughter of Wilbur Gordon Scott and wife Margarette Bonnie, nee Suess. She was united in marriage to Lester Joseph Quan in August 1958, in St. Louis. They celebrated 52 years of marriage. Mrs. Quan was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Lester, on Oct. 13, 2010. Mrs. Quan is survived by one son, Stephen Quan and wife Ann Marie, O'Fallon; one daughter, Kim Morales and husband Gabriel, California state; four grandchildren; other relatives and many dear friends. Twiehaus, 89, Warrenton, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2011, at the Villages of St. Peters, St. Peters. Mr. Twiehaus was born Jan. 10, 1922, in Wright City, the son of Robert H. Twiehaus and wife Mabel, nee Minning. Mr. Twiehaus served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a heavy equipment operator and a member of the VFW. Mr. Twiehaus was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Agnes Twiehaus, nee Wildschuetz, his stepmother, Evelyn Twiehaus, three brothers, Bobby Twiehaus Jr., Melvin Twiehaus and Louis Twiehaus, and two sisters, Gladys Walterman and Dorothy Wright. He is survived by one son, Larry Twiehaus, Gainsville, Fla.; one daughter, Connie Vitt, Warrenton; one brother, Wilford "Wimpy" Twiehaus and wife Ethel, Warrenton; one sister, Marie Moore, Warrenton; one granddaughter, Christina Vitt and fiance Jeff Polys, Steelville; other relatives and many friends. Hasten, 70, Truxton, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2011, at St. Luke's Hospital, Chesterfield. Mrs. Hasten was born Feb. 7, 1941, in St. Louis, the daughter of William Gruwell and wife Mary, nee Williams. She was united in marriage to Robert "Bob" Hasten on April 2, 1960, in St. Ann. She was employed as a secretary for McDonnell Douglas in St. Louis until her retirement. She loved spending time with her family and was anticipating the birth of her first great-grandchild. Mrs. Hasten was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bob, on Jan. 12, 2007, and one sister. She is survived by two daughters, Lisa A. Hasten and Pam S. Colyott, both of Truxton; one sister, Patti Kimbrel, New Florence; three grandchildren, Bobby Colyott and Jeremy Colyott, Warrenton, and Amanda Colyott, Truxton; other relatives and many friends. Mr. Hart died Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2011, at Heritage Point in Wentzville. He is survived by one son, Jerry Hart and Suzie Olexa; one daughter, Shannon McInerney and husband Robert; other relatives and many friends. Graveside services for Joseph Anthony Landwehr, 79, O'Fallon, were held Tuesday, Feb 15, at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis. Mr. Landwehr died Friday, Feb. 4, 2011, at St. Joseph Health Center, St. Charles. He is survived by his wife, Janice Landwehr; four sons, Jeff Landwehr and wife Debbie, Donald Landwehr and wife Janet, Joey Landwehr and David Blake and wife Laura; three daughters, Rhonda Layton, Cindy House and husband Jim, and Brenda Jo Blake; other relatives and many friends.
