Obituaries for Thursday, December 17 Edition Vera L. Rogers 1922-2009 Vera L. Rogers, 87, Independence, formerly of Warrenton, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2009, at The Groves in Independence. Mrs. Rogers was born on Oct. 14, 1922, in St. Louis, the daughter of Adolph Schirmer and wife Hilda, nee Teckimeier. On Dec. 4, 1944, in St. Louis, she was united in marriage to Henry R. Rogers. They were married 65 years. Mrs. Rogers was a homemaker. She was a member of Immanuels United Church of Christ in Holstein. She was preceded in death by her parents. Mrs. Rogers is survived by her husband, Henry, Independence; two sons, Neal Rogers and wife Dorothy, Sumner, Wash., and David Rogers and wife, Starla, Cypress, Calif.; two daughters, Kathleen Avelyn and husband Louis, Independence, and Cheri Eaves and husband Michael, Deltona, Fla.; one brother, Bill Schirmer and wife Evelyn, Fullerton, Calif.; two sisters, Ruth Eimer, Hillsboro, and Pearl Eimer and husband Richard, High Ridge; eight grandchildren, Neal Donald, William, Virginia, Ruben, Kenneth and Joseph Denton, Matthew and Elizabeth; two great-granddaughters, Juliette and Phoenix; other relatives and many friends. Memorial services will be held Saturday, Dec. 19, at 2 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home, Warrenton. Memorials to Evangelical Children's Home in care of Martin Funeral Home, 510 E. Main St., Warrenton, MO 63383 are preferred. The family is being served by Martin Funeral Home, Warrenton. Edward H. Bauer 1926-2009 Edward Henry Bauer, 83, Warrenton, passed away Thursday, Dec. 10, 2009, at his home. Mr. Bauer was born June 11, 1926, in Millwood, the son of Frank G. Bauer and wife Mary, nee Forst. On July 14, 1951, in Troy, he was united in marriage to Jennie Lee Jackson. They were married 58 years. Mr. Bauer served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a station agent for the Wabash Railroad Company in Truesdale for many years. He was also a supervisor at Permaneer. Mr. Bauer was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and a fourth degree in the Knights of Columbus Council 2341 in Warrenton. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Bernard, Robert and Anthony, and three sisters, Sister Frances De Sales, Catherine Scholte and Theresa Bauer. Mr. Bauer is survived by his wife, Jennie, Warrenton; two sons, Edward Bauer, Bloomington, Ill., and Todd Bauer and wife Suzanne, Warrenton; four daughters, Cheri Bauer, Troy, Peggy Schwerdt and husband Denny, and Jennifer Schipper and husband Chris, all of Warrenton; and Patti Kertz-Greer and husband Jack, Mackinaw, Ill.; one brother, Francis Bauer and wife Edith, Millwood; two sisters, Georgia Bauer, Millwood, and Sister Josepha Bauer, C.PP.S., O'Fallon; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends. Mr. Bauer's body was donated to Washington University School of Medicine. His memory will be honored with a private memorial service for his family. On Nov. 27, the family held a "Glad You Got to See Me" party for Mr. Bauer at the Lions Club in Warrenton. Memorials to Marfan Syndrome Clinic or J.D.R.F. in care of Martin Funeral Home, 510 E. Main St., Warrenton, MO 63383 are preferred. The family was served by Martin Funeral Home, Warrenton. Mercedes W. Miltenberger 1916-2009 Mercedes W. "Puddin" Miltenberger, 93, Warrenton, passed away Saturday, Dec. 12, 2009, at St. Luke's Hospital West in Chesterfield. Mrs. Miltenberger was born June 2, 1916, in Pendleton, the daughter of Walter Wessendorf and wife Olga, nee Buche. She was united in marriage to Milford Miltenberger in Warrenton in 1936. They were married 15 years. Mrs. Miltenberger was a branch manager for Farm and Home Savings in Warrenton. She retired in 1971. She enjoyed all kinds of card games and sports, especially the St. Louis Cardinals, North Carolina and Mizzou basketball. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Milford, who died in 1951, and one sister, D'Arline Wessendorf. Mrs. Miltenberger is survived by one son, Tom Miltenberger and wife Susan, St. Albans; one grandson, Trent Miltenberger; other relatives and many dear friends. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 15, at Martin Funeral Home, Warrenton, with the Rev. Wallace Grant officiating. Burial was in Warrenton City Cemetery. Memorials to Friedens United Church of Christ in care of Martin Funeral Home, 510 E. Main St., Warrenton, MO 63383 are preferred. The family was served by Martin Funeral Home, Warrenton. A memorial visitation for Lanny Lay Davis, 60, Mara Loma, Calif., will be held Sunday, Dec. 20, from 12:30-2 p.m. at Friedens United Church of Christ Fellowship Hall, Warrenton. A memorial service will begin at 12:45 p.m. Mr. Davis died Sunday, Dec. 13, 2009. He is survived by his wife, Remedios "Remy" Davis; one daughter; other relatives and many friends. The family is being served by Martin Funeral Home, Warrenton.
