Obituaries for Thursday, April 1, 2010 Edition Arlene A. Hoffman Arlene Alvina Hoffman, 75, Warrenton, passed away Monday, March 23, 2010, at St. Joseph Health Center, St. Charles. Mrs. Hoffman was born Jan. 30, 1935, in Wright City, the daughter of Henry D. Spoede and wife Ruth L., nee Nelson. On Nov. 24, 1952, in Warrenton, she was united in marriage to Guy Robert Hoffman. They were married 57 years. She was a homemaker and like a mother to all. Mrs. Hoffman was a member and strong volunteer of Faith Christian Family Church in Warrenton and the Merry Hearts Fellowship. She was a leader of a prayer group and Bible study. Mrs. Hoffman was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, John Spoede. She is survived by her husband, Guy Hoffman, Warrenton; two sons, Robert Hoffman and wife Lisa, Bellflower, and Ralph Hoffman, Warrenton; two daughters, Cheryl Wortham and husband Carvel, Warrenton, and Jean Stiehl and husband Mike, Omaha, Neb.; one brother, Ralph Spoede and wife Marjorie, Warrenton; one sister, Marlene Bayer and husband David, Warrenton; two sisters-in-law, Christine Spoede, Warrenton, and Nancy Casper and husband Dennis, Jonesburg; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends. Funeral services were held Friday, March 26, at Faith Christian Family Church with the Rev. Terry Roberts officiating. Burial was in the Warrenton City Cemetery. Memorials to St. Joseph's Indian School in care of Martin Funeral Home, 510 E. Main, Warrenton, MO 63383 are preferred. The family was served by Martin Funeral Home, Warrenton. Lois Irene Kolan Lois Irene Kolan, 88, Truxton, passed away Monday, March 29, 2010, at Warrenton Manor in Warrenton. Mrs. Kolan was born April 2, 1921, in Otterbein, Ind., the daughter of Jonathan Handford and wife Ethel Dale, nee Kempster. On Aug. 24, 1941, in Chicago, Ill., she was united in marriage to Walter Francis Kolan. She had been employed as a secretary for a book publisher. Mrs. Kolan was a member of Friedens United Church of Christ in St. Charles before transferring her membership to St. John's United Church of Christ in High Hill. She was a member of the Ladies Aid and the University Extension. She loved to quilt and was a huge sports enthusiast. Mrs. Kolan loved spending time with her family and grandkids. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother, Eugene Handford, and one great-grandson, William Jacob Fischer. Mrs. Kolan is survived by one son, Walter Terry Kolan and wife Lisa Dawn, Truxton; two daughters, Sharon Anne Schuerman, and husband Martin J. Jr., Troy, and Susan Carole Coram and husband David L., Wentzville; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 1, at 11 a.m. at St. John's United Church of Christ in High Hill. Burial will follow in Prices Branch Church Cemetery. Memorials to St. John's UCC Lift Fund in care of Harding Funeral Home, P.O. Box 186, Jonesburg, MO 63351 are preferred. Condolences may be made to the family at www.hardingfh.com. The family is being served by Harding Funeral Home, Jonesburg. Lucille Kurt Funeral services for Lucille Kurt, 85, Warrenton, were held Wednesday, March 31, at Pitman Funeral Home, Warrenton. Mrs. Kurt died Sunday, March 28, 2010, at her home. She is survived by one daughter, Diane Picht and husband, Bob; other relatives and many friends. The family was served by Pitman Funeral Home, Warrenton. Chester Stillman Jr. Visitation services for Chester Sylvester Stillman Jr., 80, Lake Saint Louis, will be held Saturday, April 3, from 1-4 p.m. at Pitman Funeral Home, 1545 Wentzville Parkway, Wentzville. Funeral services will follow at 4 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be private. Mr. Stillman died Sunday, March 28, 2010, at Parklane Nursing and Rehab, Wentzville. He is survived by four sons, David Ray Wallace, Dale Roger Stillman, Dean Roland Stillman and wife Kim, and Dennis Ross Stillman; other relatives and many friends. The family is being served by Pitman Funeral Home, Wentzville. Ward Jameson Funeral services for Ward Jameson, 77, O'Fallon, were held Wednesday, March 31, at Pitman Funeral Home, Warrenton. Mr. Jameson died Sunday, March 28, 2010, at Meadowlands Assisted Living in O'Fallon. He is survived by two sons, Ward Jameson Jr. and Keith Jameson; two daughters, Debbie Terasaki and Diane Williams; other relatives and many friends. The family was served by Pitman Funeral Home, Warrenton.
