Richard Brown 1958-2011 Richard "Keith" Brown, 52, Warrenton, passed away Monday, June 6, 2011, at St. John's Mercy Medical Center in Creve Coeur. Mr. Brown was born Sept. 1, 1958, in Kirkwood, the son of Vernon E. Brown Sr. and Kay J. Brown. He was employed as a stage- hand. Mr. Brown is survived by his father, Vernon E. Brown Sr., Ballwin; his mother, Kay J. Brown, Warrenton; one brother, Vernon "Gene" Brown Jr. and wife Robyn, Labadie; other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held Thursday, June 23, from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at Pitman Funeral Home, 905 South Highway 47, Warrenton. Funeral services will follow at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the family cemetery. Memorials to Stray Rescue of St. Louis in care of Pitman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 126, Warrenton, MO 63383 are preferred. The family is being served by Pitman Funeral Home, Warrenton. Thelma M. Valentine 1911-2011 Thelma Mae Valentine, 100, Warrenton, passed away Wednesday, June 8, 2011, at her home. Mrs. Valentine was born March 5, 1911, in Hastings, Mich., the daughter of Fred Durkee and wife Mindella, nee Riegler. She was united in marriage to Roland Valentine on Sept. 5, 1931, in Albion, Ind. They celebrated 68 years of marriage. After their daughter, Susan, finished high school in 1959, Mrs. Valentine accepted a position as a dietitian assistant in the West Quadrangle men's residence facility at the University of Michigan. In 1992, she relocated to Warrenton with her husband. She was a member of Grace Bible Church in Warrenton. She enjoyed playing the piano, listening to classical music and reading. Mrs. Valentine loved animals, especially dogs and her greatest love was for the Lord and Bible study. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Roland, who passed away in 1999, one daughter, Susan D. Ackerman, and two brothers, Keith and Richard Durkee. Mrs. Valentine is survived by one son-in-law, Duane Ackerman, Warrenton; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends. Funeral services were held Saturday, June 11, at Martin Funeral Home, Warrenton. Burial was in Warrenton City Cemetery. Edith Murphy Witte 1925-2011 Edith Murphy Witte, nee Shaw, 85, Warrenton, entered into eternal life peacefully Thursday, June 9, 2011, at her home. Mrs. Witte was born Dec. 27, 1925, in Pendleton, the daughter of Oliver Shaw and wife Edna, nee Key. She graduated from Warrenton High School in 1943. She married Robert Edward Murphy on Oct. 17, 1943. They celebrated 46 years of marriage. Later she married Robert Louis Witte on July 24, 1993, in Warrenton. They celebrated 17 years of marriage. Mrs. Witte was a long time member of Friedens United Church of Christ in Warrenton and was active with the church choir for over 50 years as well as serving on several committees. She was employed at Binkley Company from 1943-1947. She worked for the magistrate judge of Warren County and for Evelyn's Dress Shop. She retired as office manager from Warren County Farm Bureau in May 1988. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Robert Murphy, who passed away July 11, 1990, one son, Tim Murphy, and one sister, Dorothy Luttmann. Mrs. Witte is survived by her husband, Robert L. Witte, Warrenton; one son, Tom Murphy and wife Debbie, Overland Park, Kan.; one daughter, Kelli Boruff and husband Mike, St. Charles; two stepdaughters, Bev Weyerich and husband Danny, Warrenton, and Natalie Witte, Mount Vernon; one brother-in-law, Howard Witte and wife Maxine, Rhineland; five grandchildren, Tynan, Regan and Molly Murphy, and Daniel and Kaitlin Boruff; five stepgrandchildren, Jason, Kate and Dustin Weyerich, and Amy and Josh Mayo; one step-great-great-grandchild, Isabella Mayo; nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends. Dorothy Dickinson 1929-2011 Dorothy Marie Dickinson, 82, Jonesburg, passed away Monday, June 6, 2011, at her home. Mrs. Dickinson was born Jan. 21, 1929, in St. Louis, the daughter of Chester T. Brightly and wife Henrietta Amelia Christine, nee Kessler. She was united in marriage to William W. Dickinson on Oct. 2, 1948, in St. Louis. They celebrated 59 years of marriage. Mrs. Dickinson was a gift shop manager at Gay Gift Box at Northwest Plaza in St. Ann for many years. She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church and a WMU member in Jonesburg. She was also a member of the Artisan Guild of Warren County. She was a former volunteer at the Jonesburg Nursing Rehab and Care Center and delivered Meals on Wheels. Mrs. Dickinson was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, William, who passed away March 12, 2008. She is survived by one son, William "Bill" Dickinson and wife Darla, Jonesburg; one daughter, Elaine Auch and husband Gary, Warrenton; one sister, Harriett Cordes, Edmundson; two grandchildren, Rebecca Auch and Andrew Dickinson; one nephew, Ron Cordes and wife Donna; one niece, Janet Gay and husband Orry; other relatives and many friends. Funeral services were held Thursday, June 9, at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Jonesburg. Burial followed in Oak Grove Cemetery, Jonesburg. The family was served by Martin Funeral Home, Warrenton. Jay Elroy Bass 1965-2011 Jay Elroy Bass, 46, Fulton, formerly of Warrenton, passed away Wednesday, June 8, 2011, at his home. Mr. Bass was born Jan. 30, 1965, in Bridgeton, the son of Harry Bass and wife Joanne, nee Green. He was united in marriage to Kim Valle on Dec. 17, 1994. They were remarried June 4, 2011. Mr. Bass worked for Metso Minerals in Warrenton as a production worker. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Fulton where he was a member of the Awana Club and the Easter pageant. He was an active member of the Royal Ambassador Association. Mr. Bass enjoyed the St. Louis Cardinals, the television show, "Doctor Who," telling stories, working and trivia. He was always willing to volunteer his time when people were in need. His children were his life. Mr. Bass was preceded in death by his father and sister, Peggy Bass. He is survived by his mother, Joanne Bass, Warrenton; his wife, Kim Bass, Fulton; two daughters, Kalie Bass and Kassie Bass, both of Fulton; five brothers, Mike Bass, California state, Harry Bass Jr. and wife Amy, and John Bass and wife Rhonda, all of Warrenton, Bill Bass, Truesdale, and Matt Bass and wife Theresa, Montgomery City; two sisters, Connie Wilson, Warrenton, and Candy Bass, Louisiana state; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends. Memorial services were held Saturday, June 11, at First Baptist Church in Fulton.
