Oak Pointe receives ‘deficiency-free’ inspection

Posted
Oak Pointe of Warrenton recently announced it received a superior inspection from the Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS), which issued the community a deficiency-free ranking following a recent inspection. The DHSS determined the community to be in “substantial compliance” with state and federal nursing home rules and regulations in all areas of service, including resident care, nursing, fire safety, housekeeping and dietary departments. The DHSS inspects state-licensed residential care and assisted living facilities. As part of the inspection process, the DHSS survey team reviews the facility’s previous compliance history, to include complaint investigations. The team conducts an unannounced visit to evaluate resident quality of care and quality of life, environmental services, dietary services, and fire safety. The inspection process involves observations; interviews with residents, residents’ family members and facility staff; and record review of documentation. In March 2015, Oak Pointe transitioned from an independent living home to a licensed assisted living and memory care community with 55 assisted living apartments, 10 that are dedicated to memory care. As part of the transition, the community implemented new personalized care services including medication administration and reminders; assistance with bathing, dressing and grooming; escort to, from meals and activities, and scheduled well-being checks. Additionally, the entire staff was provided specialized dementia training to work with Oak Pointe’s dementia enrichment program, which utilizes therapeutic activities such as art projects, conversational events and interactions with pet companions. For information about Oak Pointe of Warrenton, call 636.549.8577 or visit oakpointewarrenton.com.
