WASHINGTON — The New York Times is reporting that President Trump’s former campaign chairman, Paul Manafort, was indicted Monday on charges that he funneled millions of dollars through overseas shell companies and used the money to buy luxury cars, real estate, antiques and expensive suits.Manafort and associate Rick Gates surrendered to the FBI on Monday. These are the first charges in special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into potential coordination between Russia and the Trump campaign. The indictment of Manafort and Gates makes no mention of President Trump or election meddling.Mueller was appointed as special counsel in May to lead the Justice Department's investigation into whether the Kremlin worked with associates of the Trump campaign to tip the 2016 presidential election.
