A Warren County man is facing numerous charges related to sexual abuse of a child after an investigation by the Warren County Sheriff’s Department.
A warrant was issued Oct. 30 for the arrest of Paul W. Berra Jr., 35, of Warrenton, on six charges of statutory sodomy, as well as charges of child molestation and attempted child molestation. The charges relate to alleged acts involving a single victim, which investigators said took place at a home on Cheyenne Lane, north of Warrenton, between 2012 and 2018.
The investigation against Berra began in October 2018 when the victim reported the abuse to authorities, according to a sheriff’s department report. The victim told investigators Berra first had inappropriate contact with him sometime before 2015, when the victim was less than 13 years old.
Between 2015 and 2016, Berra is accused of engaging the juvenile in sex acts on four occasions. After that the abuse paused, the sheriff’s department said, because Berra was sent to prison for federal drug trafficking charges.
Sexual contact allegedly resumed on two occasions in 2018. The sheriff’s department said Berra’s DNA was collected from a piece of the victim’s clothing after the abuse was reported.
