The candidate filing period for the Aug. 4, 2026 primary election continued over the last week, but few contested races have begun to take shape. The deadline to file is Tuesday, March 31.

Incumbents have been the primary filers for local county elections as filing continues this week, however this week a major change occurred. Current Warren County Clerk Denise Stotler had originally filed to run for treasurer, but has withdrawn her name from that race as current Treasurer Jeff Hoelscher has filed to run.

Republican Joe Gildehaus has filed to retain his position as presiding commissioner. Anna Taylor has filed for county clerk. Warren County Collector Julie Schaumberg has also filed to retain her seat, while Warren County Prosecuting Attorney Rodney McKinney is also seeking to retain his position. Warren County recorder Christy Bonstell has also filed to retain her position.

In the Warren County Circuit Court, Jonathan Yelton has filed for associate circuit judge for Division 2, while Kathleen Joyce has filed for the association circuit judge’s position in Division 3. Rhonda Peery has filed for circuit clerk. All of those filing so far in countywide races are Republicans.

Statewide in Missouri Senate District 26, incumbent Ben Brown of Washington has filed as a Republican, while Vicki Wors has filed on the Democratic side of the ballot. In Missouri House District 42, Republican incumbent Jeff Myers of Warrenton is the lone candidate.

Several candidates have filed for state auditor. Republicans Scott Fitzpatrick and Gerald Wistrand Jr. have filed on that side of the ballot, while Democrats Quentin Wilson and Gregory Upchurch are currently slated to face off on the other side of the ballot.

For U.S. Congress in the Third Congressional District, Republicans John G. Fraser and Bob Onder have filed to run, while three candidates have filed to run in the Democratic Party primary. They are Bethany E. Mann, Paul T. Wilson and Mike Conner.
