A grand opening ceremony for the new west Interstate 70 interchange in Warrenton is scheduled for Aug. 21, 2018.City officials will take the first trip over the interchange bridge as part of the opening event, said City Administrator Terri Thorn.The new interchange will connect the north and south I-70 outer roads just west of Highway MM, with entrance and exit ramps to allow drivers to access the interstate. Construction of the interchange is being paid for by two half-cent sales taxes approved by Warrenton voters in 2016.The project included rebuilding a portion of Veterans Memorial Parkway (the south outer road), which is currently open to traffic.The interchange will eventually have landscaping planting that will be done in the fall, Thorn said.
